Un combat politique

Le 25 novembre 2020, le Conseil National adoptait à l’unanimité la résolution relative à la promotion de la représentation des femmes au
sein des conseils d’administration des entités, publiques et privées, dépendant de l’Etat. « Même si je trouve regrettable que pour faire
évoluer les mentalités, il faille passer par la voie législative, qu’il s’agisse d’une loi, ou d’une résolution, il apparaît évident qu’aujourd’hui
il est nécessaire de donner un coup de pouce », a commenté la présidente de la Commission des Droits de la Femme et de la Famille,
Nathalie Amoratti-Blanc, décrivant « l’archaïsme » et le « patriarcat » ambiant.

Défendre les droits des femmes est bien un combat politique. Avec sa majorité, Stéphane Valeri a ainsi initié lors de ses précédents mandats
la loi pour la transmission par les mères monégasques de la nationalité monégasque de 1992 ou encore la loi sur l’interruption médicale
de grossesse. De retour au perchoir, après un passage au Gouvernement, il a milité pour la création d’un poste de délégué interministériel
dédié aux droits de la femme à Monaco et d’une commission de contrôle des inégalités salariales.

A political battle

On November 25, 2020 the National Council unanimously adopted the resolution on the promotion of the representation of women on the
boards of directors of State-dependent public and private entities. “Even if I find the need to go through the legislative process in order to
change attitudes regrettable, it seems obvious that whether by law or resolution, today a boost is needed”, commented the President of the
Commission for Women’s and Family Rights, Nathalie Amoratti-Blanc, describing the “archaism” and the “patriarchy” surrounding the issue.

Defending women’s rights is indeed a political struggle. Stéphane Valeri, with his majority, initiated the law for the transmission of Monegasque
nationality by Monegasque mothers in 1992 and the law on the medical interruption of pregnancy, during his previous mandates. Back at
work, after a stint in the Government, he campaigned for the position of inter-ministerial delegate dedicated to women’s rights in Monaco
and a commission to monitor pay inequalities to be created.
