Monaco Legend Group: luxury timepieces: ones to watch
According to Davide Parmegiani, Chairman and expert horologist at Monaco Legend Group, “vintage
watches gain 10% in value each year.”
For a few years now, Monaco Legend Group
has been giving star billing to luxury watches.
In 2019, Founder, Claude Cohen, formed a
partnership with Davide Parmegiani, luxury
watch expert and a Rolex and Philippe Patek
specialist. “Auctions of luxury timepieces started
after the first Gulf War; but we are noticing a
real explosion in the last two years, with the
advent of digital auctions. Vintage 1960s and
1970s watches are the best sellers. They are a
good investment. These watches gain 10% in
value each year,” observes Davide Parmegiani,
himself a big collector, particularly of the
Daytona, which brought such post-war success
to Rolex. “Timepieces are a testament to the
design codes of last century but also to countries
like Switzerland, who have a crucial position in
the marketplace, with one of the world’s best
watch manufacturing industries,” points out our
expert, who is publishing a book about special,
custom-made watches.
